Problems Receiving Emails from West Herts Ramblers

West Herts Ramblers sends emails to our members for a number of reasons including, notification of our holidays or events, distribution of our newsletters, changes to our group or how it operates, information about our walks programme or any for other reason where we need to contact you.

If you aren’t receiving these emails there are number of possible reasons why:

We don’t have an up to date email address for you.

We obtain your email address from Ramblers and consequently the email address held by them needs to be correct. To check your address either visit their web site https://www.ramblers.org.uk or ring Ramblers on 020 3961 3232.

You have declined to receive emails from the Ramblers

If you do this then we are also unable to send you emails. To check or change your preference again you must either visit their web site https://www.ramblers.org.uk or ring Ramblers on 020 3961 3232.

Our emails end up in your junk/spam folder

Most email providers try to recognise spam and they often get it wrong. There is usually a way in which you can tell your email app that our emails aren’t spam but how to do that varies from provider to provider. See below for links explaining how to do this for some popular ones.

Our email address is in your blocked list

As well as trying to block spam most providers have a blocking mechanism which will reject emails from specific email addresses and they may not even appear in your spam folder. As for spam the way to unblock addresses or specify Safe Senders varies from provider to provider. See below for links explaining how to do this for some popular ones.

Your email providers server blocks our emails

Providers can also block emails before they get to you. They often do this if they see a large volume of spam originating from another providers server and they then block all emails from that server whatever email address they come from. This rarely happens but it is not unknown and the block is usually released within a day or so. They can however apply a permanent block on any email source and if you think this is the case then you will need to contact your provider.

Booking emails

Another source of emails from us is the emails sent to you when you make bookings on our web site.  As you have directly supplied your email address to us we do not need to check your Ramblers email preferences. However these emails can also be marked as spam or blocked. Because they are not sent in bulk this is less likely to happen but if you do not receive them then the spam and blocking resolutions mentioned above still apply.

A common cause of failure to receive booking confirmations is due to typing errors when entering your email address. When you make a booking you will always be shown a success or failure message on the screen. However we can only check that your email address and phone numbers have the correct format, we can’t tell if they really are your details. If your browser autocompletes your details then check that it is supplying your correct and up to date details.

If your booking is successful but you fail to receive an email confirmation check your spam folder and block list first then contact the West Herts Ramblers This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Note we will only use the address to send emails related to the booking and we will only hold the address for the duration of the event after which it will be deleted.
